Apply now to participate in an Infant Growth Tracker study

Introduction

Tracking an infant's growth is important for a parent, as growth is one of the most important measures of assessing infant health. Measuring length and weight of your infant or toddler at home can be a real challenge for parents. Not all parents have easy access to health care facilities where the growth of their child can be measured.

To assist parents in measuring the length of their child, Danone Nutricia Research developed a learning algorithm that predicts a child’s length and weight from pictures taken while the child is lying on their back. The algorithm is designed for children younger than 2 years old and uses the latest computer imaging methods to do this.

To make the length and weight algorithm more accurate, Danone Nutricia Research is looking for parents who want to participate in this study.

For who will this study be?

You might be eligible for this study if:

  • Your child is aged 0 to 24 months old;
  • You have access to the internet;
  • You have a smartphone or tablet to complete questionnaires, take images and videos, and upload images.

What happens if you decide to participate?

The measurements will take place on a single visit to a clinic. The visit will take about 1 hour.

Clinic visit:
Standard length and weight measurements will be taken. The clinic team will also make 20 supine images (pictures taken while the child is lying on their back) and two 10-second videos.

The parent (s) / caregiver (s) will also make 20 supine images and two 10-second videos at the clinic or at home and will complete a short questionnaire.

Optional:
These two steps mentioned above can be done again if you choose, but there must be at least one month between each time. This can continue until your baby or toddler is 24 months old. If you're interested in doing this more than once, you can talk it over with the clinic staff.

You will receive:

  • The study procedures at no cost to you
  • A €50 ‘one4all’ voucher/visit
  • Close monitoring and measurements of your baby/infant
